Stanley "Stan" Eugene Nelson, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away on May 16, 2018 at the age of 95 in the presence of his wife, Shirley. Stan was born August 9, 1922 in Crookston, Minnesota to the late Silas Ervin Nelson and Nora Louise Krogen. He joined the Navy at the age of 20 and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. Stanley "Stan" Eugene Nelson, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away on May 16, 2018 at the age of 95 in the presence of his wife, Shirley. Stan was born August 9, 1922 in Crookston, Minnesota to the late Silas Ervin Nelson and Nora Louise Krogen. He joined the Navy at the age of 20 and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. After discharge, Stan worked in a record store and repaired radios and record players. He graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota Agricultural College. Post-graduation he worked as a Radar Engineer for General Dynamics in Pomona California. Stan finished his career in El Paso Texas and finally WSMR working for the Defense Department as an Electronics Engineer and was involved in the early stages of computer programming. Stan loved his family and enjoyed taking his boat to the lake to fish and was especially fond of apple pie with ice cream. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Arvella and Husband Ken Johnson. Stanley is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley C. Nelson, His children; Michael and Nora Nelson, grandchildren; Angela, Jazz, Camille, Lauren, Kerstan and great grandchildren; Robert, Charlotte, Penelope, Savannah and Chase.
