Steven Kenneth Prescott 78, of las cruces, nm, passed away peacefully in his bed on August 12,2021. He was born in Mountain Home, Tennessee, on August 23rd, 1942, son of the late Dr Kenneth Harvey Prescott and Ethal Marie Rupert where he lived with his family. The Prescott family lived in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Rockport, Missouri, and then to Mountain Home, Tennessee where Steven was born and raised. He graduated from Storm Lake Iowa High School class of 1960 later going to collage getting his masters in science from morning side college in Sioux city, Iowa, in between getting his degree Steven got his advanced ham radio license and would rebuild TV's and radio systems and even rebuilt organs for the churches, some of his favorite pastimes was gardening and hunting as well as studying philosophy and astrophysics but his favorite pastime was working on vehicles and collecting them and raising unique animals, as well as drag racing he won multiple competitions with his 1930 chevy all in his state and surrounding states and was a very well-known man in racing and designing dragsters. He had also opened his own mechanic shop when he was in high school for his love of vehicles, following later in his life he moved to Las Cruces NM in early 1970 were he built his home and joined Mesilla Valley Radio Club and set up his ham radio system as well as solar heating. It's the 2nd best in all of NM federally in the 1970's and now number 1 for still running to this day with how he built and designed. He later got a teaching job at Zia Middle School Teaching Science he then continued college at NMSU and got his master's in philosophy and taught at NMSU part time. Not to long after that he left teaching at Zia Middle School and NMSU to work with RCA ‘'Radio Corporation Of America'' at the RATSCAT facility at White Sands Missile Range building and designing radar and antenna systems of his design for communications and detection for aerospace he then later retired from that and continued to do the things he loved in life like racing and studying, traveling and learning anything he could as well as start writing a book that will be published soon. Steven lived a great long life doing what most others wouldn't dare have done or accomplished, to many things to list here, Steve's favorite thing to say for people trying to reach their goals was "Time, Patience and perseverance will accomplish anything if you put your mind to it". Don't ever forget where you come from and what you can do. Steven is survived by his brother Charles Rupert Prescott and Wanda Prescott of Omaha, Nebraska and their kids Christine Jacobson, and Nicholas Prescott and great niece and nephew, Hannah Jacobson, and Elise Prescott as well as Robert Alcala and the Alcal family as well as Joel Navarro and Mark Burbano. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Getz Funeral Home with burial to follow in Deming, NM. Service Information
