Sylvia Kingsbury, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM. Sylvia was born in Dodge City, KS on March 29, 1937. Her parents, George Frederick Leese and Mary Helen Jones Leese, raised Sylvia and her younger brother, George II on the family ranch. Sylvia Kingsbury, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM. Sylvia was born in Dodge City, KS on March 29, 1937. Her parents, George Frederick Leese and Mary Helen Jones Leese, raised Sylvia and her younger brother, George II on the family ranch. At the age of 10, Sylvia contracted polio and the family relocated to Hot Springs, NM for the therapeutic waters and they later moved to Las Cruces, NM. While working at the Rio Grande Theater, Sylvia met a young man she was destined to marry, Donald Drake Kingsbury. They were married on July 10, 1957. In 1979, Sylvia took a job with the Whitfield School Bus Company where she drove the Special Needs children of Las Cruces to school. She did so for over 30 years, accident free. She is survived by two daughters, Donella Kingsbury (and her partner Patti Hutchenson) of Las Cruces, NM and Chauntell King (and her husband Brad King) of Cloudcroft, NM, three grandsons, Luke King, Christopher and Adam Kingsbury, and nephews and nieces. She was proceeded in death by her parents, George and Mary Helen Leese, her husband, Don Kingsbury, her brother, George Leese, and her grandson, Travis King. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Grace Covenant Church, 3111 N. Main St., Las Cruces, NM. Pastors Doug Coyle and Robert Scott will be presiding. Interment occurred in a private ceremony at Hot Springs Cemetery in Truth or Consequences, NM on Monday April 17, 2017. P...
