Terry P. Coker passed away on June 1, 2016. Terry was comforted by family during his illness and at the time of his passing. He was born in Silver City, NM on Jan 28, 1945. He lived in Tucson AZ for a few years, where he toured with the Tucson Boys Choir, then moved to Flagstaff AZ, where he worked with his father Hollis in commercial construction and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1963. Terry enlisted in the US Air Force after high school and served his country in Vietnam. After his military service, Terry rejoined his father in construction, acting as general superintendent for H.T. Coker Construction and then Aquatech. After obtaining his general contractor's license, Terry established his own commercial construction company in Las Cruces, NM. He eventually went to work as the construction manager for New Mexico State University and subsequently Las Cruces Public Schools. What marked Terry throughout his life was his love of family, appreciation for his friends, and belief in service to mankind. Terry was clear about his love for his wife Diane and how she complemented and enhanced his journey. One of his greatest joys was the pride he had in his sons Colin and Travis, and his grandchildren Terri, Robyn, Aaron, Erika, Logan, Hector, and Leo. Terry began reading voraciously in his youth and never stopped. He obtained a wealth of knowledge on many subjects and always enjoyed intelligent conversation. He never stopped learning and always stayed well informed not only about his career field but also current events. One of his greatest passions was music. Whether writing it, playing it on the guitar or piano, or listening to many favorites, music was always a lifelong companion. Terry is also survived by his younger brother Jeff, and sisters Beth and Tracy. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Getz Funeral Home at 10 am. PDF Printable Version
