Theodore E. Root, 84, of Las Cruces, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at Good Samaritan Village. He was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Burns, Kansas to Frank and Minnie Root. Theodore E. Root, 84, of Las Cruces, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at Good Samaritan Village. He was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Burns, Kansas to Frank and Minnie Root. He taught in New Mexico for 35 years including 25 years in the Las Cruces Schools (MacArthur, Conlee, and Zia Junior High). He was very active in the Las Cruces Optimist Club and the University United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, attending New Mexico State University sporting events, and telling stories about his life growing up in New Mexico. He was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Saramae (Sally) Baker Root; his children Ron Root and wife Janet of Austin; Carol Root and husband Andy Hooper of Seattle, Gary Root and wife Susan of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Harlan Harris, Gwen Harris, Amy Lipp, Margaret Root, William Root and a great grandson, Nathaniel Lipp, due to be born in February. There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 am at the University United Methodist Church on Monday, January 3, 2005. PDF Printable Version
