Theresa (Terri) Ann Runge passed away on April 19, 2024, at Mountainview Regional Hospital from complications due to cancer. She was 72 at the time of her passing.
Terri was born Theresa Ann Root on June 19, 1951 to Hope Patlan and Fred Root in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from North High School in 1969. After graduation, she worked for a variety of companies as a secretary, desktop publisher and office manager. She retired from the workforce in 2000 to care for her new grandson. She spent the next 19 years caring for her grandchildren and several children from the neighborhood and her church. Terri was a loving, nurturing woman who was never happier than when caring for children.
Terri is survived by her husband, Deacon Phil Runge, her two daughters, Hope Armenta and Heather Cooper, and her two grandchildren, Shannon Cooper and Cecelia Cooper. She is also survived by her three sisters, Robin Pacula, Pamela Pastrana and Anna Thomas. She is also survived by three of her brothers, Pat Root, Phillip Root and Russel Root. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Root. She also has a myriad of extended family both in New Mexico and around the United States.
A Memorial Eucharist will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 518 N. Alameda Blvd, Las Cruces on Saturday May 4 at 11:00 am MDT. All are welcome to attend. The service will also be live streamed on St. Andrew’s Facebook page: Standrewslascruces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
