Theresa "Terry" Baker, 59 years of age, was called home from her residence with her family by her side on October 15, 2017. Terry was born 11/29/57 in T or C, NM to Ramon M. and Senobia Chavez. She was the youngest of five children, Victoria Montez, Ramon Chavez Jr., Beverlye Zubia, and Debbie Zubia. Terry graduated from Mayfield High School Class of 1975. Terry began her career as a police Transcriptionist at the Las Cruces Police Department. Terry worked for Driggers and Driggers Law Firm in their private practice. Following that she was hired by the State of New Mexico 3rd Judicial District Attorneys Office, eventually leaving as the Office Manager. Her next place of employment Ben Archer Health Clinic in Dona Ana where she was the Office Manager. Her final working years were at District Court as the Trial Court Administrative Assistant to the Honorable Presiding, Judge Douglas Driggers, until she retired in December 2013. Terry will be remembered for her infectious smile and laughter, and fun loving personality. Terry always had an open door and a full kitchen welcoming any and all with an open heart and provided whomever with a full belly. Terry was very kind, caring, and generous with her time. One of Terry's joys in raising her children came from spending many summers at the lake with her family and friends. Terry's other joys came from her secret garden, spoiling others, her Moose family, and her wide variety of animals, but she most enjoyed being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She set an example to be loving, caring, giving, and to be of service to others. "No college, no school of instruction, or earthly riches can teach or give what comes straight from the heart - Terry taught that". Terry married her "Billy," her best friend and soul mate of 39 years, and loved him the way you read in books or see in movies. On behalf of Terry's family we want everyone to know that her favorite mantra throughout her life was "Don't tell me you love me, show me you love me." Terry was preceded in death by her loving Mother Senobia Chavez, Brother Raymond Chavez Jr., and Brother-in-Law Tom Zubia. She is survived by Raymond (Isabel) Chavez (Father), William "Bill" Baker (Husband), Miranda M. (Jesse) French, Christopher Baker, Isaiah (Pang) Baker, and Lawrence Chavez. Terry is also survived by Vicky Montez, Beverlye (Adolf) Zubia, Debbie Zubia, and Allison (Fred) Wilson, and one brother Eric Montoya. And an untold number of wayward travelers who found food, shelter, and love along life's highway, who were honored and blessed to call her "Mom". Terry has six grandchildren Isaiah Jr., Kylee Shyanne, Gavin Ray, Lucas Chavez, Ming Ming, and Bragan William. Terry has an abundance of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins (you know who you are…). The Rosary will begin at 10am, October 23, 2017 with the Funeral Mass following at 10:30am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral 1240 S. Espina St. Las Cruces, NM 88001.
