Tony J. Olona, 81 of Las Cruces, NM died April 14, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 14, 1926 in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico to Antonio and Juanita Olona. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Naval Reserves, and the New Mexico Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1986 with over 42 years of military service. Tony J. Olona, 81 of Las Cruces, NM died April 14, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 14, 1926 in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico to Antonio and Juanita Olona. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Naval Reserves, and the New Mexico Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1986 with over 42 years of military service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; five sons, Tony Olona and Jeanie Smith of La Quinta CA; Greg Olona and Anna of Albuquerque, NM; Pat Olona and Joelle Teitsworth of Las Cruces, NM; Philip Olona and Diane of Tucson, AZ; and Richard Olona and Nanette of Littleton, CO; five daughters, Diana Olona of Albuquerque, NM; Susan Warner and Jim of Platteville, CO; Nancy Olona and Pat Lansu of Littleton, CO; Karen Broderick and Peter Brown of Las Cruces, NM and Janet Olona and Jim Carney of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving are one brother, Joe Olona of Clovis, NM; three sisters, Sophie Davalos of Albuquerque, NM; Polly Ballinger of Albuquerque, NM; Lucy Lopez of Clovis, NM; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Juanita; a brother, Gabe Olona, and a sister, Dolores Gonzales. Visitation will be from 5 to7 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 2 PM on Friday April 18, 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina, with the Rite of Committal and burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Don Adamski. Full military honors will be accorded by the Marine Corp League
