Jose "Tony" Carrillo Moreno, 71, of Las Cruces passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 in the early morning hours. Jose "Tony" Carrillo Moreno, 71, of Las Cruces passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 in the early morning hours. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Maggie Maria Magdalena Moreno and their children Angel Wilson, Crystal Moreno and Rebecca Moreno. Also children from previous marriages Anthony Moreno, Kimberley Guzman, Danny, Israel, Helen, Michele, Gloria, Cynthia and other children. Brothers Billy Moreno, Bobby Moreno, Orlando Moreno, Manuel Moreno Jr, Raul Moreno, sisters Barbara Morales, Helen Rios and Jenny Soltero. He also left behind many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Tony was preceded by his parents Manuel Moreno Sr, Elena Moreno and two brothers, and one son. Tony spent 3 years with the New Mexico National Guard and 3 years with the US Army at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, earned a sharpshooter certificate and was honorably discharged. Tony worked for Burns Construction as a young man, and as a janitor with the Las Cruces Public Schools. For 10 years he was very successful as a buyer of heavy equipment at public auctions throughout the area. He took pride in his many gardens and fruit trees and vegetable gardens, planted watermelon and vegetables. He enjoyed his pet turkey named Chester who had 2 "girlfriends" with many off spring. Also he was loved by his white poodle "baby doll sis Wilson' In 1976 he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses faithful to his God Jehovah as a loyal servant. One of his favorite scriptures was/ Cor 6:10 because his father taught him this scripture when he was young. He was loved by his family through good times, bad times, rich and poor times. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday Sept. 16, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be 10 am on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
