Trini was born in El Paso, Texas to Eusebio Hernandez and Concepcion Castaneda on May 31, 1931. She was a homemaker and also attended night school at Mayfield High School where she received her GED. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, John L. Mendes; her son, Thomas Mendes; grandson, Kevin Hall, and four brothers, Manuel, Eusebio Jr., Vicente and Arturo Hernandez. Trini is survived by eight daughters, Angela Rosales (Dan), Lupe Mendes (Inez), Emilia Harris, Belen Soto (Bobby), Georgina Araiza (Jimmy), Josie Hall (Mat), Maria Mendes of Las Cruces and Teresa Gallegos (Art), of San Antonio, Texas, and three sons, Carlos Alvarado (Angie), Angel Alvarado (Martha) of Albuquerque, and John Mendes, Jr., (Diane), Las Cruces; two sisters, Lencha Uranga and Sofia Lazarin of El Paso, Texas, and one brother, Ramon Hernandez of San Pedro, California. Trini was the beloved mother of 12 children and loving grandmother to 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Trini treasured spending time with all her grandchildren. Trini was an amazing cook, which was her greatest talent. She took great joy in cooking for all her family, whether it was for work-time lunch breaks or family gatherings. Her greatest past-time was donating to any casino willing to take her money. To say she was witty, comical and funny is an understatement! She would put a smile on anyone she encountered with her humor and sarcasm. She possessed an impeccable talent of keeping all her family on their toes, up to the very end. Paul bearers will be grandsons, Dan Rosales, Jaime Mendes, Bryan Harris, Bob Soto, Ryan Hall and J.C. Mendes. Honorary Paul bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren.
