Una Vee White, age 87, passed away on September 3, 2022, at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice. Una Vee was born in Aspermont, Texas on October 26, 1934. She is survived by her daughters, Diana Tucker (Rusty deceased) of Las Cruces, Jeanie Schwalm (Myrle) of Las Cruces, Carol Ann Gutierrez (Larry) of Washington; her grandchildren, Carissa Jackson, Emily Segura, Eric Tucker, Breanna DePretis, Sean Tucker, and Ryan Tucker; as well as 8 great-grand-children, her sister-in-law Jeanette Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 57 years James Gordon White, their infant son James Steven White, parents Clyde Wesley and Martha Ellen Stewart, brother Michael Joe Stewart, sister-in-law Mary Ruth Burns, and cousin Glyne Baum. Una Vee was a graduate of Chapman University where she earned her degree in education. She taught first grade in Santa Fe and Las Cruces and retired from Hermosa Heights Elementary after 25 years of service. In her retirement, Una Vee loved playing bridge with her long-term bridge group and was an Auxiliary volunteer in the Memorial Medical Center surgery waiting room, where she helped families as they waited for loved ones. She made sure the coffee was hot and plentiful. Una Vee loved to travel, and she and Jim explored many countries before he passed 2014. She and her daughter, Diana, took an Alaskan Cruise and attended Una Vee's 60th college reunion in recent years. Special thanks go to the entire staff of the Arbors Vista Living for their loving care, compassion, and friendship. Mom told you often that she loved you and she meant it! Thanks also to Memorial Medical Center and La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice for your compassionate care of mom (and her daughters) in her final days. At her request, Una Vee has been cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations in Una Vee's memory may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice or a charity dear to your heart
