Velia was born February 14, 1926 in Escalon, Chihuahua, Mexico to Antonio and Rosa Monarrez. She was a member of the Catholic Church and was a homemaker. Velia M. Gonzalez, 79 of Brazito, NM died Friday March 4, 2005 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces. Velia was born February 14, 1926 in Escalon, Chihuahua, Mexico to Antonio and Rosa Monarrez. She was a member of the Catholic Church and was a homemaker. Velia is survived by her husband Juan; two sons Juan Gonzalez and his wife Theresa of Highland Ranch, Colorado; and Jorge Gonzalez of Norfolk, Virginia. Also by two daughter, Mayela Venegas and her husband Efrain of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Gloria Hernandez and her husband Jose of El Paso, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, March 7, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home where the Rosary will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish in Tortugas with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Dear Grandma, A couple of days ago I saw you and you were laughing and playing with us. A couple of days ago I had a conversation with you not knowing it would be the last real conversation. Getting home I called out your name, knowing you would not answer back. "I know why"
