On August 7th 2021, Vesnelle (Ves) Rorris,84, Died. She was born in Elk City OK to Herbert and Catherine Berger of Leedey OK. After Graduating from Leedey High School, she moved to Oklahoma City and worked as a telephone operator. Then in 1958 she moved with the family to Las Cruces and first worked at the phone company and then at Raytheon Hawk site at WSMR. At Raytheon she met and dated Dan Rorris, who was attached to the Hawk site. They were married on June 11, 1961 in Chicago. They came back to Las Cruces so Dan could attend and pursue a BSME at NMSU. After graduation in 1968 they moved to Pampa, Texas. While working for Cabot Corp. in Pampa, Ves and Dan felt God's call to fulltime Christian ministry and they went to North Kansas City, Kansas to attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After Dan completed the requirements for his Master of Divinity degree, they were appointed by the Home Mission Board of the SBC as Catalytic Language Missionaries. After completing requirements in Spanish language school in San Antonio, Tx. We served as Regional Language Missionaries in Carlsbad, NM, Hobbs, NM and the moved to Idaho to work throughout the whole state. After working in that position and having started Primera Iglesia Bautista in Caldwell Idaho to the point that they could call a fulltime pastor. Vesnelle and son Javier had already moved back to the Las Cruces area in 2007 to be closer to her elderly mother. On June 11 of this year we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary. Vesnelle was preceded in death by her parents and son Javier Hernandez Rorris. She is survived by her husband of 60 years and four children; Danelle (Todd) Sorensen of Olathe KS., Nic (Karina) Rorris of Pocatello Id., Jason (Shannon) Rorris of Las Cruces and Jared (Melanie) Of Twin Falls Id. And also by her brother Richard (April) Berger and her sisters Frankie McPherson and Ginny (Jim) Miller and 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. There will be a viewing at Getz Funeral Home on August 16th at 5PM for the family and 6PM to 8PM for the public. At some later date, after the pandemic is over, a Memorial service will be held.
