Vickie Gove

March 30, 1973 — December 13, 2020

Once upon a time, in the fairytale family of Charles and Judy Glover, an angel was born. On March 30, 1973-several weeks before she was expected-this precious, premature baby girl drew her first breath. And with it, she breathed new life into Charlie and Judy, instantly creating the family they had been longing for. That angel was Vickie Rae Glover (Gove). On the morning of December 14, 2020, at 47 years old, our angel returned to heaven after a VICtorious two-year battle with triple-negative breast cancer. She fought this evil cancer in the same fashion as she tackled every challenge in her life: with optimism, resilience, determination, humor, and enduring faith. Her victory was won when she entered the gates of heaven fully healed. Vickie is survived by her parents, Charles and Judy Glover of Las Cruces; her pride and joy son Denton Gove; her sister and brother-in-law Rhonda and Jason Mihalic; nephews Sam and Luke Mihalic; amazing partner, Tim Donihue ("My Tim," as she called him); and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless amazing friends. Known for her love of family, her selflessness, her generosity and her ever-ready smile, Vickie will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, if even for a brief moment. Our angel truly brightened this world, and we are blessed knowing that her powerful light will continue to shine on us as she celebrates with relatives and loved ones in heaven. There will be a small memorial service to celebrate Vickie's life at Sonoma Springs Covenant Church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be primarily reserved for her loving family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Amaris Willard Foundation, named after Vickie's baby cousin with Trisomy-13. This foundation provides funding to families of children with disabilities for a variety of health care and living expense needs. Send donations to Lori Willard at 505 Mechem Drive, Ruidoso, NM 88345, Vickie's family would like to thank Dr. William Adler of the Memorial Medical Center Cancer Center for his aggressive and wise treatment during this two-year journey, Dr. Stephanie Benson, Mendy Fowler and the entire palliative care team at Memorial Medical Family Medicine, the special nurses in the Las Cruces Cancer Center, as well as the kind nurses and staff at Mesilla Valley Hospice and the La Posada Hospice facility who helped care for our angel in her final days. A special huge thank you goes to her sister Rhonda and cousins Jeanne Stearns and Lori Willard for their countless hours of selfless love and devotion and laughter. You will be so missed, Sweetheart!
