Victor Sanchez, Jr., 84, passed away on June 3, 2014 at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born on October 25, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to Victor Sanchez, Sr. and Juanita Perales Sanchez. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Vic grew up in Dallas, Texas and joined the military in 1945. He served our country in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Vic received the WWII Victory Medal and Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1957. Vic began his career as a flight line electrician at TEMCO in Dallas, Texas. He then went on to a long career with Ling TEMCO Vought (LTV) in 1950 as an engineer on various space, missile, and defense projects. In 1989, LTV became Loral Vought Systems where Vic worked until he retired in 1993. In 1996, Vic returned to the workforce as a consultant for Lockheed Martin's PAC-3 missile system. He finally retired in 2007. Vic married June Lang in 1969 and they were happily married for 45 years. After his retirement in 2007, Vic and June enjoyed many travel adventures through the US and around the world. Vic was an avid golfer and member of Las Cruces Country Club for many years where he was club champion numerous times. Vic is survived by his spouse, June, of Las Cruces, NM; his daughter, Victoria Sherrard, (Rodney) and granddaughter, Lola (who affectionately refers to him as "Honey") of Scottsdale, Arizona; son Edward Sanchez of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter Amanda Hughes of Arlington, Texas; daughter Christine Kimbrough of Arlington, Texas; daughter Teri Sanchez of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister Christine Diaz of Dallas, Texas; brother Cecil Sanchez of Arlington, Texas; nieces Annette and Taire Diaz of Dallas, Texas; nephews Josh Diaz and Christopher Basto of Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Jardin de Los Ninos, www.jardinlc.org. A memorial service will be held Monday June 9, 2014 Getz Funeral Home 1410 E.
