Virginia Bradford Eubanks, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, died peacefully on Monday, April 2, at the Arbors del Rey Alzheimer's Community. She was 89. The cause was declining health related to Alzheimer's disease. Virginia was born on the outskirts of Las Cruces, in the village of San Ysidro, in 1918. She grew up there and moved into town with her family, the Bradfords, when she began attending New Mexico A & M College, now NMSU. A fun-loving young woman, Virginia soon met an equally fun-loving young man, C.E. Steve Eubanks. They married a few years after Virginia's graduation. In between graduation and marriage, she taught typing and shorthand at Las Cruces High School. An energetic, joyful person, Virginia was also a woman of integrity. She indulged her family with birthday parties, picnics, swimming parties, and after-school get-togethers. She was equally devoted to instilling self-discipline and responsibility in her children. And like her mother, "Tucky," she found time to create a beautiful yard and gardens, which her family and friends have enjoyed for years. Virginia is survived by Stephanie and Bradford Eubanks, her daughter and son; Glenn Eubanks, Carrie Weidemann, Laurel Spiller Griffin, and Samantha Black, her grandchildren; and Alexandria Herrera, Janelle Weidemann, Caitlin Weidemann, and Cole Griffin, her great-grandchildren. Her predeceased family are C.E. Steve Eubanks, husband, and Ginny Kay Eubanks, daughter. A memorial service for Virginia will take place on Friday, April 13, at 3 p.m., at the University Presbyterian Church, 2010 Wisconsin Ave. Her family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, friends may remember Virginia by donating to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005. PDF Printable Version
