Virginia Brilliant made her transition from this earth on August 30, 2023. Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother was 103+ years old when she departed. Virginia lived in Las Cruces since 2000 but raised her family with her husband, Herman, in El Paso, Texas. Virginia Brilliant made her transition from this earth on August 30, 2023. Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother was 103+ years old when she departed. Virginia lived in Las Cruces since 2000 but raised her family with her husband, Herman, in El Paso, Texas. It was in El Paso that Virginia was a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, school library volunteer, PTA activist, and supporter of all things in which her children participated. Virginia attended UTEP in 1966-72, graduating with a degree in Sociology at the tender age of 52! After Herman retired, they traveled to Great Britian, Russia, India and Mexico. She attended and was active in Unity Temple in El Paso and Unity of Las Cruces. She loved reading and music, particularly jazz. Virginia was fit and loved exercise. the out of doors, gardening, cooking and cats. Virginia is survived by her son, Paul and daughter, Kay. She was grandmother to Jeff Brilliant (Kim) and Sandie Brilliant (Jon Benson) and great grandmother to Leslie, Karr, Cassidy, Zane and Nash. Many thanks to Mesilla Valley Hospice and Home Instead for making her last weeks comfortable. Virginia touched the lives of her family and many friends. Her love and energy will be missed. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, October 2, 2023 from 4:30-6:00pm at the Alameda House, 526 South Alameda in Las Cruces.
