It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Warren Myers Boozer. He entered eternal life on October 12, 2015 to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer at age 95. Warren's legacy of kindness, generosity and genuine love of life will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Warren had a great passion for golf, but an even greater love for his family. The care and devotion he showed to his wife was an inspiration to those who knew him. Warren was born September 13, 1920 and raised in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Warren was a standout high school football player and baseball pitcher. The Philadelphia Phillies gave him a serious look after graduation. While in school he played both saxophone and clarinet in a dance band. In 1941, Warren graduated from the Williamson Trade School for Carpentry in Pennsylvania. He also studied mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Wharton School of Business. World War II prompted him to enlist in the U.S. Navy where he became a pilot and flight instructor. While playing golf at Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kansas, Warren met his future wife, Nancy Moore. They were married for 63 years. Warren served his country honorably and retired from the Navy after 22 years with the rank of Commander. Warren and Nancy settled in Lawrence, Kansas where he began a second career at the University of Kansas. He was the Director of the Student Union Recreational Department where he taught bowling classes and coached the bowling teams. He retired from that position after 19 years. Warren loved all sports and supported the Kansas Jayhawks and NMSU Aggies by attending numerous basketball, football and volleyball games and events. Warren is survived by his wife Nancy and four daughters: Cathy, Barbie, Beth and Beverly; his brother Harold as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice. A service will be held at Picacho Hills Country Club on Saturday, October 31st, starting at 11:00 am. Military Honors and a gathering to celebrate his life will follow.
