Wesley Russell Robershaw, 68, went home to be with the Lord on January 15 th , 2016. Wesley, affectionately known by his grandkids as "Papa", was born on January 9 th , 1948, in Gadsden, Alabama. He cared for his mother as a teenager as she battled cancer and after she passed when he turned 16, he really started to live life wild and fast! He always told stories about things he did from being in the U.S. Army, going to college, growing up with the band members of Alabama, traveling the country, and knowing so many random facts, it almost seemed too absurd to believe. Well as we discovered over time, all of his stories were true! When you define a life, it is often measured in time or years. Wesley didn't have nearly the amount of years some of us would have liked. He was so loving and at the same time hot tempered. He just hated to be wrong. If you ever worked near him or with him, you may have accidently been thrown a hammer or two, but that was his style. Five minutes after he would lose his temper and finally figure out how to fix what he was stuck on, was as cool as a cucumber. Then would brag about how well he fixed it! In 1976, he finally found the love of his life, Rosaura Robershaw, his "Honey". For nearly 40 years they learned how to drive each other crazy, and love each other unconditionally. She loved him with all of her heart, temper and all. He will be remembered for being able to fix anything that was broken, his love of ice cream, especially when it was on sale, the leftover Halloween candy the kids didn't want, sweet tea, watching Jeopardy every day, and his love of Merle Haggard. Papa always expected his kiss from Honey every day and from the grandkids as they came and left after visits. He is survived by his wife Rosaura, one brother Robert Robershaw (Beverley) of Glencoe Alabama, son Carlos Robershaw (Yolanda) of San Diego, California, daughters Tonya Hays (Joe) of Palm Springs, California, JoAnn Roach(Ron) of Glendale, AZ, and Patricia Gonzales (Tony) of Las Cruces, NM. Grandchildren Andrea, Nicole, Carlos Jr., Mark, Faye, Sara, Cameron, Brianna, Destiny, and Justin. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen Robershaw, granddaughter Mary Carol Ann Morgan, 3 brothers William, Jerry, and Andrew and 2 sisters, Lura and Carolyn. A special thank you to our extended family at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada for the wonderful care and love they showed us all during his stay. Also to the U.S. Veterans Association Home Based Care Program, special thanks Tasha, his CNP, who came to see him at home and made his last years more comfortable. In true Wesley fashion, he asked that we not make a fuss. Although we tried to listen, he will be cremated, with full military honors. Memorial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. Services are entrusted to Getz Funeral Home. PDF Printable Version
