William "Bill" Pierce died at age 86 on 22 November 2021 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

William "Bill" Pierce died at age 86 on 22 November 2021 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

He was born on 22 March 1935 in Durand, Michigan to Cecil and Mable Pierce. He was the brother of Alan Pierce and Barbara (Pierce) Coffield. He graduated Durand High School in 1953. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 as a Dental Lab Technician and was the only enlisted member of the Army Bowling Team. He married Charlene (Spring) Pierce in 1957 and they went on to have five sons: Mark, John, David, Donald, and Richard. Bill worked as a self-employed carpenter from 1957-1965, then worked at Durand Concrete until retiring at age 65. After retiring Bill and Charlene enjoyed annual snowbirding in Parker, Arizona. He was active in many community organizations including the Fraternal Order of the Masons, the Order of the Eastern Stars, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Durand Sportsman's Club. He volunteered at the Durand Depot. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing any and all card games. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, and son David (d. 1964). In 2015 he and Charlene moved to Trails West Senior Community in Las Cruces, where they enjoyed an active social life together.

He is survived by his loving wife Charlene, sons Mark and (spouse) Cathy, John and (spouse) Lollita "Petie", Donald and (spouse) Heidi, and Richard and (spouse) Pamela. He leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and a family of many friends.

Cremation is provided by Getz Funeral Home who is also providing a virtual memorial wall at https://getzfuneralhome.com/obituaries.html a celebration of life will be conducted at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
