Memorial Services for William "Bill" Cline, age 83, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces. Reception will follow at the Cline residence. There will be an interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in June. Getz Funeral Home is caring for the memorial arrangements. Bill died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces. William "Bill" Cline was born in Keya Paha County, Nebraska, on November 10, 1932, to Sarah "Sadie" Pease and Basil Cline. Bill grew up in Niobrara, Nebraska, and graduated from Niobrara High School in 1950. In 1954, he married Masae Seto in Sasebo, Japan. Two children were born to this union: Robert and Judy. Masae died in 1962. On December 18, 1964, he married Lorita Weeber in Furth, Germany. Two children were born to this union: Ira and Keven. From 1951 to 1971, Bill served in the United States Army which included two combat tours, one in Korea and one in Vietnam. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service to his nation, receiving numerous military awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in combat. In 1974, Bill earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from California State Polytechnic University, and worked for Fluor Corporation of Irvine, California as a finance manager from 1974 to 1994. He and his family made Upland, California their home for 17 years prior to moving to his adopted home of Las Cruces in 1987. Bill was a wonderful provider for his family and showed his love in many ways. He enjoyed daily walks with his dog and appreciated the outdoors, with frequent travels within the western U.S. with his wife, Lorita. He was particularly fond of the beauty of the Organ Mountains. He was a lifelong history buff, Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, and aficionado of New Mexican food and Hatch green chili. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorita Cline of Las Cruces, son Robert Cline of Las Cruces, daughter Judy Holub of Rancho Cucamonga, California, son Ira Cline and his wife Shelia of Monument, Colorado, son Keven Cline and his wife Janaina of Gilbert, Arizona, four grandchildren (Peter, Kaylee, Nathan, and Mielle), and a large extended family in Niobrara, Nebraska and surrounding communities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Sadie; step-mother Dorothy "Dottie"; first wife, Masae; brother, James "Jimmy"; and sister Mary Jo Robinette. PDF Printable Version
