Bill Crawford, 66 a life-long resident of Las Cruces, passed away on Sunday November 2, 2014. He was born on December 11, 1947 to Robert and Tine Crawford and spent his early years growing up on the family farm on West Amador. He was active in 4-H, and served in the US Army Reserves from 1972 through 1978. Bill always worked hard; as an agent for New Mexico Farm Bureau, foreman of Santo Tomas Produce, an insurance agent, and in his private landscaping business. His passion the last 13 years was volunteering with the Doa Ana County Sheriff's Department Mounted Patrol to help support the Department's public safety programs, and serve his community. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding in the desert foothills for recreation and helping with search and rescue operations. He is survived by his son Robert Crawford of Austin, TX; brother Tom Crawford of Carson City, NV; sister Celestine (Cary) Duncan of Helena, MT; and many cousins in New Mexico, California, and Texas. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family that loved him. A special thank you to members of the Mounted Patrol who were an important extended family for Bill. A celebration of his life will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 3pm - 5pm in the Getz Funeral Home Chapel located at 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces. Following the service there will be a reception in Bill's honor. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Doa Ana County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, NM 88007, or a charity of your choice. PDF Printable Version
