William (Bill) F. Pinkes Jr. 85, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. He was born Oct. 25, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY to William Pinkes Sr. and Ethel Ida Breed. Bill was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II and was awarded the American Defense Medal, American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. He was also a retired general manager with the Fair Play Lumber Co. His many hobbies included photography, computers, his church, board games but especially his woodworking. Bill will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Lily of the family home; sons William Pinkes III of Las Cruces and Geoffery Pinkes of Florida; grandchildren Jeffery, Kristin and Katie Pinkes all of Florida. His daughter Sharon Ann Pinkes preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeannie Lutz officiating.
