Dr. Willie Patton Isaacs 75, of Las Cruces, New Mexico went to eternal rest on October 20, 2006. He was born October 17, 1931 in Lynch, Kentucky. He grew up in Kentucky and graduated from High School at Lynch High School. He went on to college where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Environmental and Civil Engineering at Mississippi State University, a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He was also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Willie Isaacs was a resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico for 39 years where he was a retired Civil Engineering Professor at New Mexico State University and was a beloved teacher for 19 years, and continued on to the University of Texas at El Paso where he taught for another 10 years. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and teacher who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was a wonderful man with an amazing sense of humor who always made you laugh. He was an active member of the community where he helped start the Bantam Weight Sports program for the youth of Las Cruces where he coached football, basketball and baseball for 17 years. Willie is survived by his wonderful wife of 52 years Pauline Isaacs, his three sons Willie Isaacs Jr. and Barbra Hansen of Tustin, California, Zack Isaacs of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Blaine Isaacs and wife Laura of Mesa, Arizona, one daughter Tondria Lopeztello and husband Alfred of Foothill Ranch, California. He is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren Kayla and Kayci Isaacs of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Ashley Lopeztello of Foothill Ranch, California and Austin Isaacs of Mesa, Arizona, as well as two sisters Banna Smith of Troy, Ohio and Beulah Reineke of Seattle, Washington and one brother Jack Isaacs of Lexington, Kentucky and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Donna Isaacs Hernandez, Father and Mother, Blaine and Maxine Isaacs, and brother George Isaacs. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday October 23, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday October 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at University Presbyterian Church located at 2010 Wisconsin Ave. Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001, with burial services at Hillcrest Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Willie Isaacs Jr., Blaine Isaacs, Tondria Lopeztello, Ashley Lopeztello, Ronald McPherson, and Jack Isaacs.
