Wilma Edwards passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2009, after a long illness. Wilma was the daughter of Walter and Lockie Reneer, who preceded her in death. Wilma Edwards passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2009, after a long illness. Wilma was the daughter of Walter and Lockie Reneer, who preceded her in death. Her husband Peter, a son, Mark, and a daughter, Leslie, also preceded her in death. She was born in Centertown, Kentucky, the third of five children. She is survived by sons David (Diann) Smith of Gulfport, Misissippi, and Scott Smith of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and daughter Erin Hayes of San Antonio, Texas. Also surving is a sister, Wanda (Warren) Draper, of Marion, Indiana, and a brother, Arnie (Tammy) Reneer, of St. Paris, Ohio. She is also survived by her five grandchildren. Wilma enjoyed traveling the world. As an army wife, she experienced life in Japan where her two sons were born. She and her family settled in El Paso, Texas in the early sixties. Later, when stationed in Germany, he and her family toured Europe extensively. Wilma loved to collect spoons from each of the countries that she visited and has an extensive collection that she displayed on her dining room wall. Wilma's best years of vitality and good health were spent in Oremsby St. Margaret, Norfolk England where she, her husband, and her youngest daughter lived for many years. During her professional years, Wilma's ability always led her through the ranks and into trusted leadership positions. After her husband died, she moved back the the Southwest to be close to her family. During her life, Wilma was blessed with many friends and church family. Visitation is set for 5-7 p.m. Monday August 10, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday August 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Picacho Ward, 3210 North Venus St., Las Cruces.
