Wilma Jo Weatherly It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wilma Jo Weatherly,84, of Las Cruces, NM. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, mentor and friend. She passed away in her home on the evening of April 11, 2014 surrounded by her admiring family. She was born on January 9, 1930 in Rush Springs, OK to Dorothy Mosley and John Wilson Betts. She was raised with her sister, Gemey, in her parents home in Ryan Oklahoma. It was across the street from her childhood home that she met Mike Weatherly, destined to spend a lifetime together, full of unwavering love and dedication. They were happily married for 62 years. Wilma was a stunningly beautiful person that touched the lives of everyone lucky enough to cross her path. It was at the youthful age of 18 she and Mike were married and together they began an incredible life of many adventures. This amazing life she wrought for herself was filled with travels, great cooking, dancing, raising children, grandchildren, mentoring, laughing, lighthearted singing, never missing an opportunity to show someone kindness, an act of generosity, how to be a loyal friend, an empathetic listener, or even a mischievous cohort. In her forties she and Mike moved to the Land of Enchantment. It is here she found her love for the rich and beautiful history of the Native American culture. She loved taking the day to be in the sun, surrounded with family and friends looking for little pieces of the past. Wilma Jo Weatherly was the foundation in her beautiful marriage, the cornerstone of her family, and confidant to all who knew her. She was a gift to us all and we will forever miss her beautiful light.
