Zora Ada Matlock passed away on February 28, 2014 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born April 2, 1918 in Pushmataha, Oklahoma. She grew up in East Texas where she met her husband John A. Matlock. They moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1939. She worked at Memorial General Hospital and attended classes where she earned her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse and continued working in the nursing field for 15 years. She then went to work for Dr. John McDowell DDS as a dental assistant and office manager and retired after 20 years. She enjoyed doing all types of arts and crafts and also enjoyed volunteering in the office of the First Baptist Church. Zora is survived by her children Bonnie Sue Ludwick and husband Thomas Ludwick of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, John Wesley Matlock and wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas, Larry Joe Matlock of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and grandchildren, Jeffrey Ludwick and wife Gretchen of Berea, Ohio, Stephanie Clark and husband David of Phoenix, Arizona, Angelia Rotelli of Edmond, Oklahoma, John Wesley Matlock Jr. and wife Lauren of Edmond, Oklahoma, Stuart Matlock and wife Holly of Denver, Colorado, Edward Matlock of Seattle, Washington, and William Matlock and wife Nicole of Houston, Texas, and eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Zora was preceded in death by her husband John A. Matlock, her parents Charles and Elma North, her brother Harold North, her sisters June North, Dorothy Dale, and Allene Luce. Her family is thankful for the care she received from the staff and nurses of Sagecrest Nursing Home. A visitation will be at Getz Funeral Home on Tuesday March 4, 2014 from 6:00-7:00PM. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Dr. Frank Zamora officiating.
