Alfredo "Archie" F. Rivera

Alfredo “Archie” F. Rivera, age 73, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Known to many simply as Archie, he was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort wherever he went.

Born on November 14, 1952, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Archie grew up surrounded by family and strong values. His parents, Robert and Dolores G. Rivera, instilled in him the importance of faith, respect, and doing right by others—values that guided him throughout his life.

Archie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976. During his service, he lived the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment with quiet dedication. In recognition of his service and discipline, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifle Expert Badge. He carried the lessons and pride of his military service with him long after his years in uniform.

To those who knew him best, Archie will be remembered for the way he enjoyed life. He had a natural sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, telling stories, joking around, and making sure no gathering was ever too quiet. He also loved horse racing—the excitement, the anticipation, and the simple joy of watching a race—which always brought a smile to his face. especially the times he was able to attend the races with his father—moments he deeply cherished and carried with him throughout his life.

Faith was the foundation of Archie’s life. A devout Catholic, he found comfort and strength in prayer and was known for praying every night without fail. His faith guided him through life’s challenges and inspired the kindness and generosity he shared with others.

Archie is survived by his sons, Alfredo Rivera Jr. (Virginia) and Arthur Rivera (Nicole). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Atticus, Roman, Anthony, Arturo Jr. (A.J.), Araseli, Arabela, Araliyah, Isaiah, and Emma, and a cherished great-grandfather to Abel.

He is also survived by his sister, Lupe Bencomo (Phillip); his brothers, David Rivera (Kristina),Danny Rivera (Noemi), Frankie Rivera, and Steven Rivera; his uncle, Lalo Rivera Cousin Jr.; his aunt, Dolores Wood and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dolores G. Rivera; his sister, Gloria F. Rivera; and his brothers, David and Michael Rivera.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Getz Funeral Home, with visitation from 6:00–7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Genevieve Catholic Church.Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Alfredo “Archie” F. Rivera will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his faith, his honorable military service, his joyful sense of humor, his love of horse racing, and the deep love he shared so freely with his family and friends.
