Obituary

Amanda M. Rosales, 88 years old of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed peacefully at home on July 25, 2026.

She is now reunited in love with her husband of 66 years Ernest C. Rosales. Hita, as she was fondly called by her family and close friends, was born to Arnulfo and Emilia Manterola on February 18, 1938, in Las Cruces, N.M.

She was a stay-at-home mom, who cared for her husband and four children, three of which came in the same year! Tony arrived in February and the twins Lina and Vince were born in December of 1963. This was a time when clothe diapers and rubber pants were used and milk was delivered to your home in glass bottles. Gloria was the oldest and to this day is remembered by her siblings for adding too much black pepper to the spaghetti which she prepared for them to eat. Amanda also became a mother to Isabel Ontiveros who lost her mother at a young age and married Tony.

Amanda was a great cook and baker. Menudo, lemon meringue pie and some sort of biscuit with anise are at the top of the list. She used the sewing machine and could crochet. Amanda received her G.E.D. from D.A.B.C.C. on May 12, 1995, at 57 years old. Setting the example that it is never too late to accomplish your dream but just couldn’t get around to doing so, she met that goal in her cap and gown as she walked on the graduating stage.

But her greatest gift and accomplishment was sharing her faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She would pray and bless her family. Always praying, never judging and always trusting in God to help her family to find their way back home and to God. Which they have. Her blessing touch, her smile, her laughter and assurance of God’s love and forgiveness will be missed.

Amanda is survived by her children Tony (Isabel) and Vince Rosales, Angelina (Jerry) Gutierrez and Gloria Flores. Grandchildren: Paul (Carrie) Hernandez, Richard (Christy) Hernandez, Daniel Eugene Gutierrez (Sarah), Christina Maria Gutierrez, and Gerald T. Cline (Sofia); Great-grandchildren: Anthony, Dante, Hadley, Mila, Liliana, Isabella, Gabriella, & Richard II Hernandez, Diego Eugene & Jordan Elena Gutierrez, Ethan & Jayden Cline, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Rosales, Son-in-Law Eloy Flores, her sisters; Gloria, Emilia, Mary Lou and brothers; Raymond and Peter.

Calling hours will begin August 12, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary from 11:00 to 11:30, followed by the Funeral Mass. The Rite of Committal and Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho

where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Paul Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez, Richard Hernandez II, Daniel Gutierrez and Jerry Gutierrez.

Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Getz Funeral Home.

The family of Amanda would like to thank Getz, I.H.M. staff, Fr. Alejandro, and the Hospice nurse Ernest Hernandez who helped guide them through a most painful time and offered comfort to their mother, and to those who prayed for her and the family.

On behalf of the family, “We give praise to God our Father for sending us such a beautiful angel to be our mom”.
