In Loving Memory of Drew Thompson

On July 16, 2026, our world changed forever when Drew passed away unexpectedly at the age of 35 following a sudden medical crisis.

Born on January 23, 1991, Drew lived a life defined by curiosity, creativity, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family. While many knew him by "Dr. Eww," those closest to him knew him simply as the person who could make any challenge seem possible and any difficult day feel a little lighter. Everyone knew him as someone whose contagious laughter could fill a room before you even saw him. His laugh was unmistakable, and so was his presence. Drew had a way of making people feel welcome wherever he went and was often the life of the party, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him.

Drew worked at MDC Computers for 13 years, where his intelligence, work ethic, and ability to solve just about any problem made him an invaluable part of the business. If Drew didn't know something, he refused to leave it that way. He would dive into research until he understood every detail, often becoming an expert in just a matter of days. Despite being one of the smartest people many of us have ever known, he remained incredibly humble, never seeking recognition for what he could do.

Outside of work, Drew was happiest creating, building, and exploring. Whether he was designing something on his 3D printer, skateboarding, snowboarding, riding a unicycle, or listening to and creating electronic music, he approached every passion with enthusiasm and endless curiosity.

What truly set Drew apart was the way he treated people. He never hesitated to go out of his way to help someone in need, no matter how big or small the request. He formed friendships everywhere he went and knew an incredible number of people. Yet, despite touching so many lives, it would be difficult to find anyone who had a negative thing to say about him. He treated others with genuine kindness, respect, and humility, leaving every person he met a little better for having known him.

Above everything else, Drew was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father.

Drew and his wife, Courtney, shared ten wonderful years together after a Facebook message led to their first date at Farley's. What began as a simple conversation became a partnership built on unwavering love, trust, laughter, and respect. They never fought because they always chose to understand each other, working side by side through every challenge life brought them. Together, they built a home filled with love and were an incredible parenting team.

His greatest joy was being a father to his five-year-old son, Oliver, and he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his daughter, Lilith, due this October.

The bond between Drew and Oliver was something truly special. Drew possessed a patience that seemed endless. He understood Oliver in ways that amazed everyone around him. When Oliver became overwhelmed, Drew always knew how to comfort him. He could somehow translate the imaginative stories that no one else could quite understand, and he never hesitated to climb trees, invent adventures, perform daring stunts, or spend hours matching Oliver's limitless energy. The love between father and son was unmistakable.

Drew leaves behind his loving wife, Courtney; his beloved son, Oliver; and his daughter, Lilith, whom he already loved deeply before she enters this world. Though she will never have the opportunity to meet her father, she will grow up surrounded by stories of the remarkable man he was. In addition to his wife and children, Drew is also survived by his mother, Betty Rumley; his stepfather, James Rumley; his biological father, Jim Thompson; and his sister, Amanda Thompson.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Drew's kindness, brilliance, humor, creativity, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family he cherished most and through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to support Drew's family are invited to contribute to a fund established for Oliver and Lilith's future:
