April Brewer Biad
April 30, 1942 – June 17, 2026
84 years
“So shall the last be first and the first last.” Matthew 20:16
This was Mom.
She was born in El Paso, Texas to parents H.O. and Julia Brewer and sister Cynthia. Raised in Hatch, New Mexico, she excelled in High School, attended Girl’s state and was an officer in the Future Homemakers of America.
At age 17, while working and Dairy King, she met Lou Biad, whom she later married on June 2, 1960. Married just shy of 66 years, together they raised six children in the Hatch and Mesilla Valleys.
April wore many hats: Seamstress, nurse, chef, homemaker, bookkeeper, chauffer, catechism teacher, PTA, tutor and farmer’s wife. She was a sports fan enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening. She did it all well, and most often under fire. She was an amazing sister, daughter, wife and mother. Everyone who met her loved her.
Mom waged a heroic 15-year battle with dementia, during which time she taught her children one final lesson; This time about how to suffer with grace.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and husband.
Mom is survived by her six children: Cristan Ismond (Tom), Julie Ogaz (Edward), Vicky Schneider (Dan), Donald Biad (Lisa), Louis Biad (Summer), Jovonna Zilisch (Matt), her 21 Grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Home is not a place, it was her. Thanks for everything, MOM.
