Our beloved father and husband, Arthur G. Aleman, 94, of Las Cruces, NM passed away on September 8, 2025, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center with his wife and son by his side.
Arthur was born, and grew up in, southern Colorado. As a young man, Arthur enjoyed playing baseball where he was a talented pitcher. He also enjoyed hiking in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of more than 55 years, Magdalena Aleman, his son, Arthur A., and all his dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. After his military service, he began his civil service career and had more than 37 years of service to the U.S. Government when he retired from White Sands Missile Range in 1986.
After retirement, Arthur’s interests and hobbies were spending time with his family which included his loved pets. Arthur also enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and tennis as well as hiking in the New Mexico desert and travelling. Arthur also supported the Aggies as a New Mexico State University Football and Basketball season ticket holder for over 50 years.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Candelaria Aleman as well as his brothers and sisters.
Arthur was always ready to lend a helping hand, and he was a very thoughtful and caring person. Arthur will be dearly missed.
A prayer vigil for Arthur will be held at 10:00 am on September 23, 2025, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. A Funeral Liturgy will follow. Arthur will then be laid to rest at the church’s columbarium.
