On August 25, 2012 Arthur Jay "Artie" Robertson, a man of fame and legend, crossed over the river to rest under the shade of the trees. He was born on 30 May 1933 to Arthur Jay "Jack" Robertson and Natalia Rodriguez Robertson. He graduated from Las Cruces Union High School where he enjoyed modest success with the football and track teams. During the Korean Conflict he had a swell time with the Department of the Navy and its Corps of Marines. He later earned a BA and MA from NMSU (the latter on the condition he not set foot on the campus again for at least 25 years). He loved the United States and often said that if anyone of average health and intelligence could not make it in the U.S.A.; they could not make it anywhere. Never able to suffer a fool gladly, or silently, he frequently exchanged pleasantries with losers who blamed their lack of success to "lack of opportunity." He was predeceased by his son, Jimbo, his parents and his beloved Annette Marie Peterson. He is survived by his son, James Scott Robertson and his other love, Patricia Joyce Anderson as well as stepdaughters Linda Rebstock, Cindy Arend, and Sue Smith. A Mass of the resurrection will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 10:00 am Saturday, September 15, 2012 with Fr. Scott Ruthven officiating. There will be a gathering of friends and family held following the service at Picacho Hills Country Club. Semper Fi-GO NAVY-BEAT ARMY!!! PDF Printable Version
