We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our father, Benancio G. Misquez. Ben was born on April 1, 1923, in Alamogordo, NM. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 100 on November 13th, 2023, in Las Cruces, NM. Ben was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by his beautiful wife of 76 years, Martha, their seven children, several generations of grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends. He is welcomed into Heaven by his four siblings, and his parents Nicolas and Seferina Misquez.
Ben had a wonderful and warm personality. He was a man of many stories and riddles, and always left everyone he met with a smile. Ben has always enjoyed the outdoors whether working or playing. He loved to share stories of his work on the National Forest building dams, clearing trails, and how he helped build the Highway 82 tunnel. He retired from the Civil Service at Holloman Air Force Base with over thirty years of experience. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and garden. He was a selfless man, who found peace and comfort through his daily prayer with his rosary. Ben was truly a phenomenal man whose impact will be forever felt by his loved ones.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 17th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
The family is very grateful for the staff and nurses at Haciendas at Grace Village in Las Cruces, NM. who cared for Ben in his later years. The attention and tenderness provided was so important and very appreciated.
