Betty Catherine (Mabry) Kersey passed away Oct. 24, 2009 at Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born Jan. 27, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Leo and Esther (Rainey) Mabry. Betty worked 43 years in the banking business. She was active in Business and Professional Women's Clubs, a member of multiple Bridge Clubs, member of the Methodist Church and Choir. Participated in the International Run against Crime in 1983, finishing second. Betty's hobbies at various times were flower arranging, oil painting, and outdoor activities, including golf. Betty married the love of her life Robert Allio Kersey, May 21, 1948, with whom she shared 61 years of life and marriage. Survivors include her husband Robert Kersey, daughter Jacquelyn and husband Terry Scott, son David Robert and wife Marcelin Kersey, grandsons Matthew Wilkerson, Bradley Scott, Paul Kersey; granddaughter Sarah Kersey, and on great granddaughter. Preceding Betty in passing were her parents Leo and Esther (Rainey) Mabry, one sister Delores Mabry Kelly, grandson Chris Wilkerson and granddaughter Shelly Scott. Memorial Services to celebrate her life may be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E. Montana, Las Cruces, NM 523-4700.
