Betty Jane George

Betty Jane George, 88, of Las Cruces died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. She was born March 15, 1923 in Junction City, Kansas to Charles and Genevieve Koepke. She had been a faithful member for more than 68 years with the Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Betty Jane enjoyed Knitting and playing Bridge. She will forever be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four sons Johnny George of Anthony, NM, Phil George and wife Cecilia and Charles George all of Las Cruces and Leland George and wife Patsy of Colombia, S.C. and by her daughter Jeanette Austin also of Las Cruces. Also surviving her are her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Betty Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years John E. George, her parents and siblings. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate her life are at 9:00 AM on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 also at Getz Funeral Home with Doug Weeks of St. Paul's United Methodist officiating and The Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to her four sons Johnny, Phil, Charles, Leland and her two grandsons Stephen and Stewart George. PDF Printable Version
