Betty Lou Wilcox

Betty Lou Wilcox of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away peaceful! on July 20, 2026 at La Posada Hospice. Betty was born in Monterrey, California to Anthony and Minnie Amarel.

Betty went to elementary school in New Boston, New Hampshire. She had many friends and great memories there. Her family moved around a lot spending time in Monterrey, Tucumcari, and Alamogordo. Betty attended college in Laconia, New Hampshire. 

In 1959 Betty met Lyndol Wilcox at a dance in Cloudcroft. They hit it off immediately but Betty had to go back to Monterrey where she was living at the time. After only five dates Lyndol mailed Betty a wedding ring and a card asking her to marry him. He also sent $200.00 for her to get back to Alamogordo. She came back and still has the ring and the card. At the time of Lyndol's death, he and Betty had been married for 66 years.

Lyndol worked as an electrician and moved around to El Paso, Las Cruces, and Tucson. They seemed to have fun together on these adventures. In 1971Lyndol and Betty started Lynco Electric and it is still going strong 55 years later. They both lived the American Dream starting from very humble beginnings to becoming very successful.

Lyndol and Betty decided to start travelling once they could afford anything more that rice and beans. They explored 39 countries and sincerely enjoyed them all. Later they purchased a motorhome and explored all over America, Mexico and Canada. Lyndol and Betty made a lot of very good friends while, using their motorhome.

Later on Lyndol and Betty moved to Solstice Senior Living center in Las Cruces.  They became good friends with a lot of the people and care givers there. We are very thankful for everyone at Solstice.

Betty's favorite activity was interacting with their grandchildren. She treasured these times.

Betty is survived by her sons Raylyn and Nathan and six grandchildren and step grandchildren. Betty had asked to be cremated. We definitely want to thank La Posada Hospice for the care that they provided for our mom.
