March 21, 1973 – September 25, 2026

With hearts full of love and a deep sense of loss, we announce the passing of Brian Crawford on September 25, 2026, at the age of 53.

Brian had many passions and, quite simply, he couldn’t sit still. He loved guitars, hot rods, photography, music, mountain biking, and barbecue. He always seemed to have something going on—something to work on, somewhere to ride, a photograph to take, or something cooking. Brian was an avid pitmaster, and one year he even smoked 27 turkeys. He simply didn’t do much on a small scale.

Professionally, Brian spent his career in the building industry as a sales leader. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University in 2003 and an Associate degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from Doña Ana Community College in 2005. He was a natural relationship builder and problem solver who genuinely loved figuring things out for people. Whether it was a customer, colleague, friend, or someone in the community, Brian wanted to find a solution, make something work, or simply lend a hand.

That same spirit extended into his community. Brian served on the boards of the Las Cruces and New Mexico Home Builders Associations, including as Vice President of the Las Cruces association. He volunteered in Project Management with Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity and was involved the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, and the Conquistadors. He was also an active member and past president of the Lions Club and a member of Aztec Lodge No. 3 of the Freemasons. He said YES a lot! He got involved, took on leadership, and gave his time.

And then there was Cubby, Brian’s beloved dog and best buddy. Their bond was special, and anyone who knew Brian knew how much Cubby meant to him. Cubby was his companion and an important part of his everyday life.

Brian will be remembered for his curiosity, his many interests, his ability to solve problems, and the ways he contributed to his community. He filled his life with projects, passions, experiences, and plenty of stories. Those stories—and the memories that came with them—will remain with the people who knew and loved him.

Brian is survived by his parents, Everett and Joy Crawford; his sister, Dana Crawford; and her husband, Paul. Amanda Chandler, his daughter and her husband Matthew Chandler.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, New Mexico. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:10 AM.
