Camilo B. Calzada Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Camilo Barela Calzada who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 82 in his beloved hometown of Doña Ana, New Mexico, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

Camilo lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family. A proud Vietnam Veteran, he served his country with honor and carried that same commitment into a long and respected career in law enforcement. He retired as a Sergeant with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and later as a Captain with the Sunland Park Police Department, where he earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues and community members.

While Camilo took great pride in his military and law enforcement service, nothing meant more to him than his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a story, or offer words of wisdom. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, working on fabrication projects, watching television, listening to music and spending time with his family. He also cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Harley, who brought him comfort and joy. Whether he was building something with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, relaxing at home, or gathering with loved ones, he found happiness in life’s simple moments. He was the rock of our family—a steady source of strength, wisdom, and support through every season of life. His love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Camilo Calzada was preceded in death by his wife Candace Calzada and former wife Charlotte Redhouse Calzada; his parents, Pedro and Francisca Calzada; his siblings, Pablo, Miguel, Josefa, Micaela, and Maria; granddaughter Kathleen, and great grandson Nathaniel.

He is survived by his brother, Edward (Isabel) Calzada, and sister, Patricia Torres; his loving children: Cal Calzada, and his children, Naquitta, Jason, Cal, Jolene; Yvonne Calzada, and her children, Camille, Cheyenne, and Marcus; Steven (Valentina) Calzada, and their children, Steven and Talani; Anjeanette Carlson, and her children, Zachary and Alexa; and Doreen Calzada, and her children, Joshua, Jasmine, and Jade. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brooklyn and Sonny. Camilo leaves behind a legacy of twenty cherished great-grandchildren.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of service, integrity, and love will live on through the many lives he touched. The family is grateful for the prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time.

Forever loved, always remembered, and never forgotten. ❤️
