It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cynthia Susan Rushing (née Barrett) who passed away quietly on Friday evening, May 9th, 2025, at the age of 77 at the Mesilla Valley Hospice Center in Las Cruces, NM due to complications from COPD. She was surrounded by the comfort of her loving daughter Elizabeth along with family and friends.

Cynthia was born on December 1st, 1947, to Carl and Helen Barrett in Blytheville, AK. The family moved to Snyder, TX where Cynthia was raised alongside her brother Steve. She met and married Victor Rushing in 1962. They had two children, Elizabeth and Nathan. During her life, Cynthia and her family lived in several locations, including various towns in New Mexico, Texas, North Carolina, Nevada, Mississippi, Wyoming, and Colorado. She loved moving and traveling to new places as she enjoyed exploring new areas and meeting new people.

Cynthia was an entrepreneur, having started a successful cleaning company in Houston, TX and a professional gambling business operated in Nevada with her brother Steve Barrett. Besides her businesses, Cynthia had many vast and varied jobs throughout her life. She was a passionate pet lover, raising and caring for many family pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits and a host of other of God's creatures. She loved cooking and gardening and was an avid reader. She loved collecting cookbooks and antique glassware with her mother and daughter and had an impressive collection of both. Cynthia was a beautiful sharp-witted woman with a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Sannes, son-in-law Paul Sannes, and daughter-in-law Natalie Rushing. She was preceded in death by her father Carl Barrett, stepfather Alvin Huddleston, mother Helen Huddleston, brother Steve Barrett, and son Nathan Rushing.

Services and a remembrance will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to COPD and cancer research or any animal charity in Cynthia's honor are greatly appreciated.
