Darlene C. Salas, age 65, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed into eternal life on March 11, 2026.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Salas Sr.; her mother, Elvira C. Salas; and her brothers, Henry Salas and Ralph C. Salas Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Morales; her daughter, Ashley Salas; her cherished granddaughter, Laila; and her youngest brother, Davie Salas.
Darlene was a lifelong resident of Las Cruces. In her early years, she lived on Mesquite Street, surrounded by many cousins and extended family. Later, her family moved to their homestead on Doña Ana Road. During her formative years, she helped her parents on their small farm, caring for goats, cows, pigs, chickens, and more. It was there that Darlene developed a deep and lasting love for animals.
She was an avid concertgoer who found great joy and comfort in music, especially in listening to her favorite bands. Darlene was a proud graduate of Mayfield High School.
In her adult life, Darlene dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked for many years with Tresco, where she found pride and purpose in supporting those in need. Her compassion and commitment left a meaningful impact on many lives.
Later in life, Darlene faced various health challenges and personal struggles. Through it all, she remained resilient, working hard and rarely complaining. She found the strength to keep moving forward and fought the good fight with quiet determination.
Darlene will always be remembered by her family as a devoted provider, a compassionate caregiver, and a loyal friend.
A Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church.
