Donald Weinreich Profile Photo

Donald David Weinreich, born January 14, 1942, went peacefully to be with Jesus on June 28, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the age of 84. Surrounded by his loving family, he concluded a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd R & Edna E Weinreich, and his brothers, Richard Weinreich, Bob Weinreich and Tommy Weinreich.

He is survived by his wife, Ellie Weinreich; children, Shana (& Andrew) Tidrick, Greg (& Ju-Leigh) Sharp, Rebekah (& Eric) Stephens, and Casey (& Clay) Berryman; Grandchildren, Devon Martinez, Jayden Martinez, Hannah Sharp, Gregory and Gillian Stephens, and Hudson Berryman; and brother Bruce Weinreich.

Don was a devoted lover of golf, he brought energy and laughter to the course with his signature smack talk and antics. He cherished quiet strength, a witty sense of humor, and a good chat. Above all, he was a humble man of steadfast character—a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong fixer of all things broken, whether a car, a household appliance, or a problem that needed solving. He took great pride in his work, embodying a strong work ethic, gratitude, and integrity in whatever path he walked. Don loved his career and found deep fulfillment in mentoring and growing others in his field, where he was well loved and respected by his colleagues.

He and Ellie retired to Ruidoso, New Mexico, and later Las Cruces, where they enjoyed golf, Sunday dinners with family, and especially the precious hours spent with “My man the Hud.” Don cherished and protected his wife, children, and grandchildren until the very end, holding his grandchildren as long as they would snuggle in. He taught his family through example to work hard, value integrity, and never be ashamed of their journey. Those who knew him remember his quiet strength, his loyalty as a mentor, and his unwavering commitment to providing for and protecting his loved ones. Don’s life was defined by family.

A man of few words but deep impact, Don’s legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted and the love he showed through actions rather than fanfare.
