Dulce “Candi” Bianca Gonzales Washington, age 40, passed away on September 19, 2026. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend whose vibrant personality and loving spirit touched the lives of so many people.
Candi was known for her warmth, humor, kindness, and adventurous spirit. She had a way of lighting up every room she entered and could make friends with just about anyone. She welcomed people from all walks of life and made those around her feel comfortable and loved. Candi was the life of any party and had a gift for bringing laughter and joy wherever she went.
Candi often joked that she did not need children of her own because she had so many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted auntie who loved spending one-on-one time with them, taking them on dates, playing dress up, doing their hair and makeup, and sharing her love of The Little Mermaid. She even let them do her hair and makeup in return. Candi loved children deeply, and children seemed to be naturally drawn to her. She opened her heart and her home to the children of friends and family, always making them feel welcomed and cared for.
Candi and George’s story began when they were young, as they were each other’s high school crush. Candi worked for George’s dad at Golden Corral, and it was there that she and George first met. They quickly became best friends and inseparable. Over the years, their friendship grew into a love they both cherished deeply. They celebrated birthdays and holidays by going all out, coordinated their outfits just for fun, and built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories. They became professional travelers, exploring the world together and discovering that even a simple date could turn into a getaway for days. George was by Candi’s side as she turned her dream of owning a salon into a reality, something she was incredibly proud to accomplish. Their relationship was filled with friendship, adventure, and a love that made even ordinary moments feel special.
George will forever treasure the life they built together, the places they explored, the adventures they shared, and the countless memories they made along the way. He carries with him the love they shared and the knowledge that, at their best, they were the best. He loved Candi more than life itself and will carry her memory with him always.
For nearly 18 years, Candi worked as a cosmetologist, a career that allowed her to combine her creativity with her love of making people feel beautiful. She was especially talented at cutting hair and creating vivid, colorful looks. She loved working with bold colors and had a gift for bringing her clients’ ideas to life. Cosmetology was more than simply a job for Candi; it was a craft she took pride in and an important part of her life. One of her dreams was to have a salon of her own, and she was proud to see that dream become a reality.
Candi found joy in the little things that made life colorful. She loved to sing and could often be found singing loudly in the shower or while doing her makeup. Cooking was another source of comfort and creativity for her, and she loved watching cooking shows, trying good restaurants, and finding a great food truck. She loved to travel, especially by airplane, and was always ready for an adventure or whatever unexpected experience came her way. She enjoyed getting dressed up and surrounding herself with bright colors, especially pink, hot yellow, and hot purple. She loved hearts, comfort blankets, and carrot cake. She also dreamed of returning to radio, a passion she hoped to pursue again.
Candi was a hard worker who cared deeply about the feelings of the people around her. She formed friendships that lasted through different seasons of her life and had a rare ability to make people feel like they had known her forever. Her laughter, generosity, creativity, and love for others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Candi is survived by her husband, George Washington; her father, John L. Gonzales; her brothers, Juan Luis (Rocky) Gonzales, and Sergio (J.J.) Gonzales and his wife, Jessica; her sister, Francisca (Xochitl) Gonzales; her nieces, Diajhez Dixon and her husband, Kamryn, Jade Gonzales, Kaya Dixon, Lola Dixon, and Nina Dixon; and her nephews, Jax Gonzales, Juan Luis (Little Rocky) Gonzales, Preston Russell Banks, Levi Guillen, and Nilo Gonzales; along with numerous loving family members and friends.
Candi is preceded in death by her mother, Rose Gonzales, who was her absolute best friend, and her beloved nephew, Nicodemus (Nico) Gonzales.
