Elizabeth M, Holmes (Bess) was born in Maysville, Kentucky on May 7, 1945, to Harvey and Floria Brierly. She moved with her family to Las Cruces in 1959. She attended Alameda Jr. High, Las Cruces High School where she was an award-winning student. Afterward she attended NMSU.
She was active in, student council, FFA Sweetheart, ROTC ‘Angel Flight’ where she was part of a winning National Marching team.
She married Phillip Holmes and gave birth to daughters Hollis and Krystal... She remained in Las Cruces until she joined her husband and toured the country performing in every state west of the Mississippi River and New Jersey on the other side. During her musical performing years she played Lake Tahoe, Reno, El Paso. And several times in Las Cruces at the Palms Motor Hotel.
After her and husband’s touring career ended in the early 80’s, she and family settled in Idaho where eventually they moved to Citrus Heights (Sacramento, CA) where she enjoyed a successful career as a Manufacturer’s Representative until she and her husband returned to Las Cruces in 1999. She continued living in Las Cruces where she ran a successful Mobility Equipment Sales and Service company for Several years, until eventually the Multiple Sclerosis that she had battled for many years claimed her.
She is survived by her husband Phil, Daughters Hollis (Holly)Richardson of VA and Krystal Holmes of AZ, Grandson Arthur Richardson III, Orangevale, CA, Great granddaughter Adalyn Richardson. Great Grandson Lee Richardson IV, Granddaughter Evelyn Jade Richardson, Citrus Heights, CA. Granddaughter Clarity Janes and Great Grandson Oswald of Berkeley, CA.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Wednesday August 26 at 11 am,
Interment will follow at The Masonic Cemetery.
