Elizabeth Johnson

Elizabeth Johnson, 1949 – 2026 of Las Cruces passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. She was 77 years old. Born in 1949 Henry Johnson and Teresa Miramontes.

She dedicated her life to serving others. She began her career as a teacher, shaping the lives of countless students, before going on to work at the Public Defender's Office, where she remained until her retirement. Over the course of her career, she helped thousands of people, always leading with compassion, patience, and a deep belief in doing right by others. Outside of work, she loved spending time at the casino, where she could always be found enjoying herself.

She is survived by her husband, Mario Borunda, a war veteran; her sons, Eric Patrick Morales and Michael Morales; and her siblings, Henry Johnson, Oscar Johnson, Gilbert Johnson, and Sandra Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Johnson and Teresa Johnson.

She will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity, her strength, and her lifelong commitment to helping others.

A service will be held at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:30 am. Followed by Burial in Columbarium.
