Frances D. Melendrez, 68, of Las Cruces, died Friday, April 11, 2008. She was born to Farris and Grace Martin on June 22, 1939, in Madison, Alabama. Frances later became a clothing manager for Charlottes Fashions. Frances had many hobbies that included bowling and playing the slot machines. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons; Tommy Melendrez and wife Debbie, Tony Melendrez, both of Las Cruces, New Mexico, three daughters, Kathy Garcia and husband Johnny, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Dina Avila and husband Joe, of Snyder, Texas, Tammy Melendrez, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, one brother, Danny Rey Martin and wife Paula, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one sister, Glenda Stalter and husband Steve, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, 13 grandchildren, JJ, Michael, Diane, Marcos, Bo, Sheena, Shanna, TJ, Celina, Monique, Julian, Stephen, Brandy, and 15 great-grandchildren, Steven, Jordan, Aviana, Rhianna, Elianna, Juanito, Louisa, Matthew, Gabriel, Marissa, Brendon, Estevan, Jude, Lyric, Mystic, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband Apolonio "Polo" Melendrez, and grandson, Dennis Melendrez. A visitation will take place at Getz Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 5-7 PM, with a Prayer Vigil to follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be given at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina, on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10 AM, with the Rite of Committal and burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Juan (JJ) Garcia, Michael Garcia, Marcos Olayo, Andrew (Bo) Olayo, Jake Benavidez, and Sam Benavidez. PDF Printable Version
