Frederick Lee "Freddie" Harris, 77 of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, February 25, 2014. He was born to John and Mildred Harris on March 7, 1936 in Hatch, NM. Freddie served his country honorably in the United States Army, proudly served the Village of Hatch, NM and Dona Ana County as an EMT and Paramedic. He was a member of First Baptist Church, enjoyed teaching Senior Sunday School Class and conversations with the Morning Therapy Group at McDonald's and the Liar's Club. His greatest love was seeing the smiling faces and hearing the laughter of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freddie is survived by his sons, Kevin Harris and wife Cathy of Lubbock, TX, Kerry Harris and wife Chris of Las Cruces, NM and Kent Harris and wife Kristy of Las Cruces, NM, and his daughter, Dana Whiteley and husband Keith of Las Cruces, NM. He had 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Corene, two brothers Ernest and Donald, and one sister Joann Goodin. Freddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm at Getz Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2014. A celebration of Freddie's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. L.J. "Bud" Goodwin officiating assisted by Richard King. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
