Gerald Adrian Biamont passed at the age of 94 on May 11, 2025, at his home in Las Cruces, NM. Jerry was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. During his last few years, he was surrounded by and attended to by his family. He is greatly missed.
He was born September 1, 1930, to Alma Augusta Christiansen and Adrian Andrew Paul Biamont in Kankakee, IL. He graduated in 1948 from Bradley High School in Bradley, IL. After graduation, the family moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where he attended Colorado College and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Physics. He proudly served in the United States Army 6th Infantry Division, Company I, 1st Infantry Regiment at Dugway Proving Ground in Dugway, UT, during the Korean War. He retired from a long career in civil service at White Sands Missile Range in 1985. One of the rockets he built is displayed in the WSMR Missile Garden. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was creative and talented and enjoyed several hobbies: cake decorating (among his frosted creations were cakes that looked like a Barbie in a ballgown, a supreme pizza, and a football field), various fiber arts, gardening, cooking (one family member marveled at how Jerry knew how to use his microwave to prepare complete meals, when most people used them only to reheat cups of coffee), painting and swimming. He played the saxophone in high school, followed by a lifelong love of music in general. His favorite band was The Beatles, and he curated a huge collection of records and CDs. He learned to play bridge while in the army, and afterward he played duplicate bridge for many years at the local bridge club. He loved to travel and was always ready for the next adventure. He always enjoyed going to the movies (as a child he went with his mother, and at the time they could see a double-feature for a nickel, so they'd spend all Saturday at the theater), and he was regularly a season ticket holder to local concerts and plays. He and his folks were fans of the Chicago White Sox and often watched them play. As a kid, he would deliver eggs to the neighbors on his bike. Lucy, his pet chicken, would often accompany him in the basket on his handlebars. He loved to read the newspaper and work the puzzles every day. He enjoyed winning at cribbage, dominoes and solitaire. His favorite foods were peaches, mangos, onions, and green chiles -- and there was no such thing as a bad chile relleno. His greatest accomplishment was raising five kids and not going insane during the process. He is survived by his children: Deidre Banks (Ray), Michelle Kinsey, Paula Biamont, Allan Biamont and Neva Biamont; grandchildren: Andrew Kinsey (Lara), Anthony Biamont, Sydoney Banks and Emme Biamont; great grandchildren: Adrian Kinsey, Anabella Hazel and Grady Jones. Additional survivors include Victor Hall and Jerry's beloved dog, Neco.He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Andrew Biamont; his infant brother, Wayne Biamont; and his grandson, Hadrian Banks.Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, NM. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, Las Cruces, NM.
