Harold Erwin Clark Jr., 87, of Caballo/Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on January 6, 2026.Harold was born on February 28, 1938, in El Paso, Texas, to the parents of Hazel and Harold Clark SR. He would have celebrated his 88th birthday this year. He graduated from Weed High School and married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth “Betty” Clark. Together, they built a life centered on family, service, and creativity.

Harold proudly served his country in the United States military for over 20 years. During his career, he became a tsunami expert and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University, followed by a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 18 years with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Following his military service, Harold worked for the U.S. Geological Survey at the Albuquerque Seismological Center and Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory and later for Lockheed. Beyond his professional career, Harold and his wife owned a ceramic business, where they created many beautiful ceramic pieces together. He was also a talented, self-taught wood carver who crafted numerous unique and cherished works.

Harold was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Past Master of the Valverde Lodge (Hatch), Bethesda Lodge (T or C) and Kingston Lodge (Hillsboro). Harold was also a Scottish Rite and York Rite member. He was also a member of the Ballut Abyad Shrine. He was a Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hatch and Truth or Consequences, and a member of the wood carving club in Truth or Consequences.

Deeply devoted to his family, Harold and Betty raised three children together. He was known for his strong sense of humor, sharp intellect, and remarkable ability to solve problems.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Karen Weber and her spouse Jim Weber; his son, Lee Clark and his spouse Debra Clark; and his grandchildren Chris Weber, Jennie Ashley, Amanda Ortiz, Arthur Weber (Sheila Weber), Jesse Weber (Suzie Weber), Steven Clark, Mariaester Vigil, Austin Weber, Daniel Weber, Mercedes Weber, Rowan Weber, and Weston Clark. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Clark; his son, Harold Clark III; his brother, David Clark; and his grandson, Mark Burroughs.

A service to honor Harold’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations or special thoughts may be shared with Karen Weber or Lee Clark.

Harold Erwin Clark Jr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
