Heriberto “Eddie” Flores, age 70, departed this life on August 13, 2025, at the Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Heriberto was a loving son, brother, uncle, and father who spent his life at the service of others in the communities he lived in. He was blessed to be born an identical twin on October 16, 1954, in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Bel Air High School. After graduating high school, he was called to serve a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Arizona/Nevada area.

After completing his mission, he went on to pursue a legendary law enforcement career that expanded over 40 years.

He proudly served the Silver City Police Department, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police, Mesilla Valley Marshal’s Office, and New Mexico Military Institute Campus Police Department. Pushing his law enforcement career to new heights, he was selected to go abroad to Mexico to teach his expertise to many state police departments all over the country. His colleagues often referred to him as a mentor and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid firearms instructor to many around him to include family, friends, and coworkers.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including, long walks in the desert of Vado, New Mexico, while honing his skills as a proficient sharpshooter, and watching countless western and war movies. He had a love for playing basketball especially at family gatherings. He also enjoyed indulging in sweet treats with his twin brother Humberto Flores whenever he had the chance.

He is survived by his four children, Laura Ibarra, Gabriel Flores, Victoria Flores, and Cristian Flores. He is also survived by his siblings Moroni Flores II, his twin brother Humberto Flores, Rolando Flores, Norberto Flores, Lucila Flores, and Anabelle Logan, and many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Moroni and Margarita Flores, and his sister Laura Flores.

Funeral service will be held on August 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3210 Venus Street. Following the service, Heriberto will be laid to rest at the Memory Gardens of the Valley.

In honor of Heriberto’s legacy and love for his family, the following individuals will serve as pallbearers:

  • Humberto Flores (twin brother)
  • Gabriel Flores (son)
  • Cristian Flores (son)
  • Kenneth Grotefend (stepson)
  • Jared Ibarra (son-in-law)
  • George Stevens (close family friend)


Heriberto’s dedication to public service an unwavering devotion to family will forever be remembered. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
